Inner City Scaffolding Limited work at landmark building

Inner City Scaffolding Limited, Scaffolding Association Assessed Members, have been supporting works for Black Mountain Partners Limited, the developers at 68 King William Street, London, a former Lloyds Bank and Guardian Assurance Company building that dates back to 1920.

Working to high quality scaffolding designs by Abreo Group, Inner City Scaffolding Limited erected an eye-catching, 30 metres long, 5 metres wide and 4 metres high loading gantry consisting of over 150 liner meters of 750 Apollo X Beams, cantilevered over the entrances and exits to Bank Station.

Being mindful of commuter access and traffic flow the team carefully designed and set out the scaffolding to ensure that TfL and London Underground width and high requirements were met. Beyond these considerations they also had to plan for the underground tunnel below. To maximise the loading area of the gantry the team introduced kentledge to the inside dolly towers using steel tube and water butts to the upper level, allowing the gantry to have a loading capacity of 10kN/m2 for refurbishment work at roof level. The extremely impressive roof level scaffolding consists of two huge truss outs and a 20 metre bridge from front to back with two suspended hanging lifts.

This technically and visually impressive project has been managed with aplomb by the Inner City Scaffolding Limited team, and they look forward to embracing more challenging projects in the near future. Find out more about the company here.

Mattison Scaffolding Limited supporting Kingston University expansion

Mattison Scaffolding Limited, Scaffolding Association Audited Members, have recently erected an independent access scaffolding at Seething Wells Campus halls of residence, Kingston upon Thames.

The client brief was for a temporary structure to the front and rear elevations and then to erect modular beams to form a temporary roof covering. This covering allows work to start on the construction of a new floor with additional rooms for students. The project, still on-going, requires temporary roof coverings on selected accommodation blocks within specific timeframes. In addition to these time demands, the Mattison team have needed to focus on their communications and logistics, remaining conscious of equipment and supplies occupying limited car park spaces, and liaising with ground workers as they lay new pipes.

As you can see from these aerial photos, the Mattison team removed a considerable amount of working from height by erecting boarded platforms to each module beam at ground level, then lifting them in place with a crane.
